How to Start Playing – Level 1 to 80 Guide (Hyjal)
1) Leveling: where and how
Leveling takes place in Hyjal from level 1 all the way to level 80.
Hyjal is our starter zone, so you don’t have to travel the world — everything important is close by.
2) First quests: NPC Arven (Valkyr)
At the start of the leveling zone (around levels 1–5) you’ll find NPC Arven (Valkyr).
Complete her quests to get an Itemlevelup Token.
This token is the main key for early progression.
3) Sets, tiers and weapons
When you need tier sets / weapons:

Teleport to Orgrimmar or Stormwind

You’ll find NPCs there with tier gear and weapons

All teleports are available in our Teleporter (no need to search around)
4) Starter gear – two options
You can get starter items in two ways:
A) Buy with gold
Simply buy starter gear using gold.
B) Darkshore Fishing Zone
In Darkshore (Fishing Zone) you can catch fish.
Exchange the fish for starter items (great if you don’t want to spend gold early).
5) How to progress to the next tier
When you want to move up to the next tier, you’ll need tokens:

In Orgrimmar / Stormwind you’ll find NPCs offering many quests

It works like a bounty system: “bring the head / kill the target” → you receive a token

Then you exchange the token for the next tier / gear at the appropriate NPC
6) Important skill: Enchanting + Disenchanting
For higher progression you’ll need to break down items:

Then you can Disenchant items (break them down)

When you disenchant a weapon, you’ll get a required material/item for the next tier or new weapons
7) Daily & Weekly quests (strong rewards)
Don’t skip Daily and Weekly quests — they provide very solid rewards and help you progress much faster.
8) PvP Zone: challenges & rewards
In the PvP Zone, you’ll find additional PvP challenges with extra rewards.
If you enjoy PvP, this is one of the best ways to earn bonus progression items.
9) World Bosses: Badge of Justice
World Bosses reward Badge of Justice, which you can use to obtain gear sets.
Tips

Learn Enchanting as early as possible — it speeds up progression a lot.

Use Masterhead to quickly see where an item comes from. You can also check the item tooltip for drop/obtain info.

If you’re not sure what to do next, follow the Hyjal quest line — it’s designed to guide you from 1 to 80.

Always check the Teleporter first — it contains all key locations and saves a lot of time.

Stuck on progression? Make sure you’re collecting the right tokens in Orgrimmar/Stormwind and exchanging them at the correct NPC.

Don’t forget to gear up your companions — equipping them makes a huge difference in dungeons and raids.

Set your companion role properly (Tank/DPS/Support) depending on what your character needs.

Playing solo? Dungeons and raids have solo/party scaling (up to 4 players), so you can progress even without a full group.

Need starter gear without spending gold? Go to Darkshore Fishing Zone, catch fish, and exchange them for items.

Most quests let you choose the reward you need — pick the item/material that helps your current progression the most.
